Richard Tomlinson – An ex-MI6 operative: Mohamed-Al-Fayed’s accusation that the murder was a combined work of British and American intelligence caught more flame when Richard Tomlinson, an ex-MI6 operative claimed that he had knowledge of similar fake car crash plans used by the MI6. During civil war in Yugoslavia, he was shown a three page document by the MI6 in-charge of Balkan operations. This was a detailed plan to assassinate the Serbian leader President Slobodan Milosevic using a fake car crash. This particular plan had chilling similarities to the car crash which led to the couple's death.
MI6 officer suggested that the crash to be arranged in a tunnel would serve two primary purposes; one that proximity of concrete close to the road would ensure that the crash would be sufficiently violent to cause death, and second that it would minimize the number of potential witnesses. He also said that the MI6, CIA and DST (French intelligence) illegally detained him several times & had his laptop & other data storage devices confiscated. The fact that these agencies tried to stop him from giving his testimony suggested that they had a lot to conceal. There is credible information in the MI6 files which would shed light on the causes & circumstances that led to Princess of Wales’ death. None of these files are made public till date; MI6 refuses to release any of it & those remain protected under the Official Secrets Act.
Rumours later spread that an Israeli firm was involved in a Swiss Air 111 crash; on going through the list of passengers, it was found that Richard Tomlinson was supposed to be on that flight.
Who was Henri Paul?
Henri Paul was a security officer at the Fayed’s owned Ritz Hotel, Paris. Richard Tomlinson was involved in a complex operation to smuggle Soviet weaponry out of the disintegrating parts of Soviet Union. In his testimony he confirms that there were number of meetings between various people involved in this operation at the Hotel Ritz, Paris. As he further investigated, this MI6 informant at the Ritz Hotel was a security officer & of French origin. Was this Henry Paul? Did MI6 already have an informant in place?
The Ritz Hotel at Paris was an important venue for meetings of Middle East prominent leaders. Thus a man in charge of the security who has access to good intelligence could have been of prime importance for Israel. He could well have been recruited by the Mossad as an informant. Whether he worked for MI6 or Mossad can never be proven until one of these agencies declassify the withheld documents. Also, large amounts of money being deposited to Henri Paul’s accounts just days before the crash are yet unanswered for. The inquest concluded that Henri Paul was overdrunk that night and was not in control of the Merc. However all the CCTV footage at the Hotel shows Henri was looking pretty normal. There was a lot of talk about his blood samples either be contaminated or swapped.
